Gold Medal

“I too have got a gold medal”
“Oh! When was it and for what?”
This was the conversation on Monday after hearing the news about Bindra’s gift to our country.
Gold medal is the name of a medicated oil like Axe oil. The oil will be green in colour, so we call it pacha thailam at home”
“********”
*Sighs*! When I saw the video of Abhinav Bindra I too got inspired for achieving something for our country. Idha sonna ellarum nammala comedian madhiri paakuranga.cha!

  5. rahman Says:

Actually I’m not so sure what I feel about this. On one hand, you have the guys complaining “One gold medal in 28 years; how sad is that?”…

But on the other hand, talking from a quite physical/genetic point of view, the Indian body structure is not really meant for competing in sports like swimming, basketball, running and stuff.

Can’t really blame them can you?

Actually its not just the authorities to blame (though they ARE part of the problem)

    1.
There IS the genetic/race thing; after all, how many black people have you seen win a swimming/pool event?
And how many caucasians have you seen win a track event?

    2.
Let’s face it; in a country where cricket is the national religion, do we really expect to see international sportspersons in other disciplines?

Let me admit that I don’t follow sports much and haven’t paid such close attention to this.

I really doubt. I don’t see that changing even in the distant future. There was a little bit of craze for tennis before a while, not for the game but for Sania. Even that has faded away now.
